MESH FLOORS If you live in a high-risk fox area, you may want to take advantage of our optional mesh floors. Welded (readymades) or wired (flatpacks) to the base of the chicken tractor, they are mobile along with the pen, and are made from large-square weldmesh so the chickens can still access the grass underneath. The squares will also allow the manure to fall through and fertilise the ground. However, the mesh will prevent any predators from entering the pen through digging underneath. SELF FEEDERS AND DRINKERS Self Feeders and Drinkers are designed to make your chickens virtually self-sufficient. The feeders and drinkers hang inside the chicken tractors - we recommend about two inches above the ground, hanging from the center bar by wire bent at both ends to make a hook. Having them attached to the pen in this way means your feeders and drinkers are mobile along with the chicken tractor - no unnecessary bending and carrying them around by hand. The feeders hold up to 4 kilos of layer pellets, and the drinkers hold 3 - 4 litres, providing your chooks with constant access to food and water. Chooks only eat as much as they need to, so you don't have to worry about them eating themselves to death. You can top up your feeder and drinker, and even go away for a few days without having to worry about feeding the chooks. This makes them wonderfully uncomplicated pets. FREE RANGE EGGS ARE CHEAPER TO GROW THAN BUY

EAT: Four young laying hens housed in our chicken tractor will eat 400grams of layer pellets per day. A 20 kilogram bag of layer pellets costs approximately $10.00 and over the course of a year they will consume 9 bags, costing $90 per year.

LAY: Each day four laying hens will lay approximately 3 eggs, totalling 89 dozen eggs per year. In a supermarket free range eggs cost approximately $5 per dozen. Therefore you have just produced $445 worth of eggs for just $90.
